Foghat Concert Reviews 1977

Concert Reviews '77

27 June ... Seattle, WA ... Kingdome

Foghat opened for then megastar Peter Frampton, along with J. Geils Band. I had looked forward to this show back then, as much if not more than Carl looked forward to Summerdaze. I liked the J. Geils Band in these years prior to them having any hits, Frampton's Comes Alive LP was the rage, and of course... Foghat!

This was the first concert I ever saw at the Kingdome. I believe it was also the second concert held there (McCartney & Wings being first). J. Geils was good, but Foghat ROCKED. In fact they rocked so well, in spite of sound system problems, I was later completely bored by Frampton and walked around waiting for my ride to get bored enough to leave. Driving Wheel stole this show for me, I believe this was the first time I heard it live... FANTASTIC! During this concert, I came to the conclusion that the Kingdome was such a lousy place to see a concert, due to the distances involved and the horrible acoustics, I'd never see another show there. (The next morning I sold the Zeppelin tickets I held to an upcoming show at the dome, not knowing it'd be their last Seattle show ever).
