Foghat Concert Reviews 1993

Lonesome Dave's

Concert Reviews '93

27 May ... Cleveland, OH ... Draft House

Lonesome Dave's Foghat plays at the grand opening of the Draft House Concert Club, where you could get as close to the stage as you would like. A good crowd showed up but not the numbers I expected. I remember saying hello to big Bryan Bassett leaning against a wall outside before the show. When the band left their tour bus to begin the show is when I entered and stood up front on Bryan's side of the stage. Foghat played their usual setlist with the Peter Gunn theme being the standout song for me, it just keeps sounding better and better. Bryan played with a lot of enthusiasm thruout the show, and Riff West settled in nicely on bass, complimenting fast Eddie Zyne on drums. Oddly, I don't remember hearing Stone Blue or Honey Hush at this show as they played some newer tunes and some older covers which they incorporated in songs like IJWMLTY. While I enjoyed the show, I think I found it evident that Dave was getting a bit tired of this foray and obviously we knew what was to happen next with the reunion. After the encore we loudly encouraged Dave to keep it up showing we were behind him.
