30 June ... Cleveland, OH ... Odeon
The original Foghat returns to cleveland and plays the Odeon Concert Club to a
packed house, a far cry from Lonesome Dave's last visit in 1993. I managed to
coax a few friends along and when they hit the stage and opened with Louisiana
Blues they said to me "these guys are OLD." Foghat continued with Jump That
Train also from the Boogie Men cd. The place was really alive tonite and it
was my first chance seeing Tony Stevens on stage as I was a bit too young to
see him in 1974. They continued on with a string of hits, even Third Time
Lucky with Dave on acoustic guitar. What a treat to see Rod Price up close as
he continually talks to his guitar trying to coax everything he can out of it.
Lonesome Dave was like a kid in a candy store on stage. Everyone was just
thrilled to be up there. Slow Ride was a treat as Dave and Tony kept time on
one side of the stage and Rod was left alone on the other to take the end out
solo to the next level, and oh! To see Tony ripping on his bass at the sam e
time. IJWMLTY was an encore and it was a straight ahead rocking version tonite
with nothing thrown in as in past shows. What a show to see them all together
again and to be so tight, and then those friends of mine said to me "these
guys can ROCK." 'Nuff said.
