I knew about SummerDaze last year, and the anticipation was killing me. Four of my favorite bands in one night. I couldn't believe it when I heard they weren't coming to the Pacific Northwest. So with an invitation from Gary in Reno, I got together with Evin, drove to the Sea Tac Airport, and flew to Reno.
Before the concert we met up with Roger Earl at the Sands, had a chat and got filled in on the latest news. Then it was off to the concert at the Reno Hilton Amphitheatre.
We had to miss part of Blue Oyster Cult's performance in order to visit with Foghat. There's a lot going on backstage with 4 bands. Nonetheless, we got to see the guys before they had to leave.
The "SUMMER DAZE" tour, which started on May 30th and ended July 4th, was a big hit with everyone. The line-up was ... Foghat ... Pat Travers ... Blue Oyster Cult ... and Steppenwolf. I was fortunate enough to attend the Reno show and can tell you that it was truly spectacular. Those that were unable to attend, really missed out. Good Times Magazine published a review of SummerDaze at the Westbury Music Fair.
Before the tour started, a Summer Daze promotional CD was made. It features 3 tracks from each band, and was NOT being sold on the tour. The only place to get it is your local record store. You'll have to do some looking, because not all stores have it.
The tour, which lasted a little over a month, performed all across the United States. The general consensus is that it wasn't long enough and didn't play enough cities.
